Fall 2009 Elementary Projects
Our science theme for the K-5 projects is Health and Human Body. You will see your children starting to come home with new knowledge and skills related to their bodies and their health. For the next nine weeks, until winter break, your children will be engaged in projects. You are invited, of course, to visit the classroom whenever you like, but you are especially invited to come to Project Open House on Thursday night, December 17 to see the (hopefully) completed final challenges of these projects.\
K/1st: The K/1 project is called “The Body Shop”. Students will be learning about their body systems and making a human body guide in each classroom.
2nd/3rd: Students in Deni’s and Becky’s classes will be doing a project about teeth called, “Time For Teeth” while students in Tim’s class do “The Chair Project” and learn about body systems and ergonomics.
4th/5th: Students at this level will be doing “The Hiking Project”. They will create a hiking guide to San Francisco while they learn about the human body systems and their synthesis to allow humans to hike!

Middle School Projects
The humanities classes in middle school will be taking on the challenge of identifying the causes of poverty and oppression within globalization.
The science classes in middle school will take the challenge of becoming experts on one landform on this planet and doing the necessary scientific research to become such an expert.
Spring Projects 2008
K-1 The K-1 will be learning about taking care of pets and plants. Ask your child about the new classroom pets and plants!
2-3: Tim’s and Maya’s classes will be studying aquatic and terrestrial habitats in the classrooms. Deni’s class will be studying birds and bird watching.
4th-5th Grades: These grade levels are doing the zoo project in which students will study zoo animals, zoo issues, and habitats.
