Garden/Nutrition Programs

-The middle school students in the After School Service Learning Program are working in the garden weekly. On Tuesdays, the Service Learning Program has a the Food Bank Project on the Excelsior street entrance. Free food is available to members of SFCS and the Excelsior community through the San Francisco Food Bank. (see more Food Bank photos)



Fall Projects

The humanities classes in middle school will be taking on the challenge of identifying the causes of poverty and oppression within globalization. The science classes in middle school will take the challenge of becoming experts on one landform on this planet and doing the necessary scientific research to become such an expert.

Music

Mr. Staples provides instrumental instruction Wednesdays & Thursdays.

Ensemble meets Wednesdays & Thursdays 8-9 am (advanced students).

Instruments include: Piano, Violin, Bass, Sax, Clarinet, Guitar and more.



Art

Middle School students have  art class 1 hour a week

Camping
All Middle School students go on a once a year camping trip.
6/7th go camping for 2 nights/3 days. 2008- Slide Ranch
8th grade go camping for 4 nights/5 days.

PE
Middle School students receive 1 hour  every day
of Physical Education with PE teacher Eric Hendy

Community Service

All Middle School students are required to do community service.
6th Grade 20 hours per school year.
7/8th grade 30 hours per school year.
